Are you in pain or suffering from ill health?
Acupuncture and massage are tried and tested systems of complementary medicine that have been used for thousands of years. They are known for treating many different conditions. One condition that I am exceptionally good at treating is muscular and arthritic pain. 80% of patients who come and see me in pain experience a significant reduction in their pain levels within six treatments. I also have great success in treating people with a range of other symptoms, including:
- Stress and fatigue
- Headaches and migraines
- Digestive and gastrointestinal problems
- Feeling low or depressed
- Menstrual problems and menopausal symptoms
- Fertility issues and supporting women through pregnancy
- Poor immune system
- Sleep problems
- Problems with ears, eyes, nose and throat
Why my treatments are so effective?
Since 2011 I have been engaged in ongoing post graduate training with Andrew Nugent-Head (www.traditionalstudies.org). This has enabled me to refine and deepen my understanding of acupuncture and Chinese bodywork, especially in relation to pain and its associated pathologies. As well as using acupuncture and Chinese bodywork I integrate the use of hot stones massage into my treatments. Using these three modalities, each treatment I give is uniquely tailored to the person being treated, depending on their symptoms, age, gender, the strength of their constitution, and how they are feeling on the day. This focus of determining what your specific needs are within each treatment and having the skills to meet those needs is what makes my treatments so successful.
Who comes to see me?
People come and see me with many different health problems, which I am often able to greatly improve or completely resolve. But people also come to see me to maintain their health; mainly because they have experienced the benefits of my treatments. This can be in the form of regular acupuncture treatment or for a longer treatment incorporating a deep tissue hot stones massage; ironing out those aches and pains and making sure they don’t progress to anything worse. The one thing that most of my patients experience is a restored sense of vitality and a greater quality-of-life.
Acupuncture, hot stones massage or Chinese bodywork?
Some people choose to have either acupuncture, hot stones massage or Chinese bodywork as a stand-alone treatment. However, most people have a combination of these therapies, as they find that it is a more powerful and more effective way of treating their condition or maintaining their health.
I use the theories of Chinese medicine and associated diagnostic skills to understand your condition and determine which acupuncture points to use to bring about the healing response you desire. Depending on the strength of the treatment you may experience a dull aching sensation at some of the points. This sensation has been shown to have great therapeutic value.
Hot stones massage
As well as feeling amazing, hot stones are one of the most effective and successful ways to treat muscular and arthritic pain. I use the stones to apply slow, deep pressure strokes and compression movements. The warmth from the stones melts away muscular tension, allowing the tissue to relax more deeply, enabling a faster recovery from pain or injury.
Chinese bodywork incorporates 24 different hand techniques. Depending on the needs of the patient, I apply these to either acupuncture points, along the pathways of the meridians, or to specific regions of the body. This bodywork amplifies the effects of acupuncture, and depending on the hand techniques used, can leave you feeling anywhere from deeply relaxed to very energised.
